I collaborated with my friend and Alicia Keys' Creative Director, Earle Sebastian, to develop the music to carry guests through the dinner hour. To honor Riccardo Tisci, we wanted to include iconic Italian music—but mix it deftly with new soul, unexpected remixes, hip-hop and classics to give it a grand ballroom feel and stoke the lavish, open atmosphere. As this was my second year at the Black Ball, I was able to anticipate the rhythm of the night, and ably create a tempo and feeling to accompany the guests through each scene change and family-style meal course. This 90 minute playlist will let you relive the vibe of the night or take you into the celebratory setting, where guests including Madonna, Aretha Franklin, Kanye West, David Byrne, Clive Davis and Sean Puffy Combs feted the Keep A Child Alive cause and enjoyed a thoroughly beautiful evening. My job was an absolute honor. Respect.
